My love of reading

I love love love books...I am a avid collector of books and an avid reader.  I also love my nook and my kindle fire.  I am mainly into Young Adult but also read Adult and some horror.  I love all zombie novel and vampires and anything supernatural.  I have MS and all my days consist of chronic pain and am on disability.  Reading has been my escape from my world into hundreds of other worlds.  Everyone around me including my sons are not readers and I try so hard to get them to understand what a book can do for you what it can do for your soul but it never gets through to them.  My family does not understand I would rather have a book as a present then anything else and they also say not another book you have so many....Yes I do thank you and will continue to grow my collection with or without approval of others.

I have done a TBR Jar.

The Name of the Star (The Shades of London) - Maureen Johnson

A TBR Jar is where you write down on small peices of paper all the books you still need to read from your bookshelves (which is a lot) in a Jar and once a month you draw a peice out and read that book.  I had my son do this for me he loved it.  This months pick was The Name Of The Star.  So far it is really good so a good pick for the month.  Wondering if I should do a TBB (to be bought) Jar?  I have so many books I need to buy to complete my series and just books I have to have so this might be a way to keep me on track of what I need to buy instead of inpulse buying?

I fail!!!

I knew this was not the right time for me to do a Read-A-Thon by boutbooks but did not listen to myself...what else is new?  My apartment is having a major rehaul from floors to tubs to cabinets and even lights.  Way too much pounding and dust and no electricity all day...so I have read a total of one book and half of another.  So yes I failed but that is ok because I am only in competition with myself which never seems to end.  I always feel like I am such a slow reader and at awe with people that can read several books a week to my one.  I need pointers or secrets so I can become a faster reader but at the same time I want to enjoy my books I read so never ending battle.

2nd day update on my read-a-thon by bout of books

The 5th Wave - Rick Yancey The Eternity Cure - Julie Kagawa

I have completed The 5th Wave which was 480 pages total I read.  I am going to start on the Eternity Cure and hope it does not take me as long to read because as of right now I am behind.  Wish me luck because I need it.

I had to add a book

The 5th Wave - Rick Yancey

I know I made a list and really should stick to it but it's The 5th Wave I had to get it and read it right away.  So progress for Monday day 1 is I started The 5th wave and about half way through it.  Really enjoying it...who else is reading this this week?

In love with this series

Dead Hunger III: The Chatsworth Chronicles - Eric A. Shelman

This is the third book in the Dead Hunger series and it just gets better and better.  After the first book the characters feel like a part of your family and by the third book your praying nothing bad happens but it is an zombie apocalypse so bad things do happen and was a little or ok more than heartbroken when this tragedy happened. I was even extremely pissed at the author for awhile.  You would think after 3 books I would be tired of them and ready to move on but nope just excited to start the fourth book.  The fourth book is called Dead Hunger Evolution.  I wish I could tell you if this is the last one in the series but have no clue but really hoping its not.

What am I reading during the Read a Thon?

I figured if I am going to read double from what I normally read which is two books a week then I better pick books I know that I will not want to put down so here they are:

What will you be reading?

What to read??

Hmmm......my TBR is huge I have over a hundred or more books on my shelfs waiting to be cracked opened and have even more books on my nook and kindle so deciding what to read is making my brain hurt.  Should I read some of my series and try to finish a few of them up? Should I read from my nook all the new books that just came out plus i read faster on the nook or kindle?  Any one have any opinion or suggestions on what to read for my read a thon let me know...

A Read A Thon

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 13th and runs through Sunday, May 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 7.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

I am going to do this and challenge myself to 4 books this week.  Everyone is welcome to come and join us and have a reading blast until our eyes feel like they are falling out!!!

Wow this was such a pleasure to read!

Dead Hunger: The Flex Sheridan Chronicle - Eric A. Shelman

This book was exactly what I thought it would be...fun, addictive, characters that you fall in love with. Incredible writing with gore and zombies and compassion and the struggle to stay alive. I do not know why but I can not get enough of these type of stories and this one does not let me down at all. I have started reading the second one and it already has me hooked too. LOVE IT...

I liked it.

Zombie Patrol (Walking Plague Trilogy) - J.R. Rain, Elizabeth Basque

The first book is dealing with the infection and you really are not getting into the zombie part of the infection it touches it lightly but I am not sure but i think the next book will be about the zombies. This book gets you into loving the characters who are infected and that sucks because they are really likable characters but at the end of the book you still do not know what is going to happen with them. If you like zombie books I do believe you will enjoy this one and it ends where you have to pick the second one up so see what is going to happen.
